Steven Gillies is an award winning Commercial and Art photographer based in Scotland, with over 20 years experience in the photographic field. His areas of speciality lie in Photographic Art, Portraiture, Landscape, Architecture & Interiors, Space & Structures and Documentary.
Steven’s creative strengths are his unique visual flair and the way in which he sees, approaches and represents his subjects. This linked with his strong communication skills from the kernel of an idea through to detailed briefs and on to the final image, has seen him being commissioned for, and involved in, some award winning advertising and print campaigns. His work has appeared in Advertising & Design campaigns, Corporate Reports, Brochures, Editorial Documentary & Portraiture for magazines and weekend supplements, Print and Web campaigns and a variety of other media for many top end clients and publishers.

Steven has travelled extensively across the world and has worked as a photographer in the UK, New York and Sydney. He was commissioned to document his home city of Glasgow during its ‘Year of Architecture & Design’, which culminated in a major photographic exhibition at the Lighthouse Gallery, sponsored by Kodak, Deutsche Bank and Glasgow City Council. Additionally he has successfully shown his work in six subsequent solo exhibitions, and his images have been purchased by many Corporate Companies and individuals alike. He has also been the recipient of two six-page features of his life and work in the ‘Arts’ section of the Scotsman magazine and the ‘Arts & Culture’ section of the Herald, along with profiles and features in many other publications.
Steven continues to seek out subjects which attract him and spark his imagination, subjects to which he can bring his distinctive creative skills, and he is never happier than when turning these sparks into striking imagery and works of photographic art. At present when not engaged on commercial work he is focusing on new imagery which he hopes to have exhibited and published.
